[Paraphrase] Agni desired: 'May I be the eater of food of the gods.' He offered an eight-potsherd cake to Agni of the Krittikas, and thereby became the food-eater of the gods... He makes offering with: 'To Agni svaha! To the Krittikas svaha! To Amba svaha! To Dula svaha! To Nitatni svaha! To Abhrayanti svaha! To Meghayanti svaha! To Varshayanti svaha! To Cupunika svaha!' The Taittirīya Brāhmaṇa names seven individual Kṛttikās in the svāhā-calls of the Agni-Kṛttikā offering; several names are rain/cloud words (Abhrayantī 'bringing clouds', Meghayantī 'making clouds', Varṣayantī 'raining'). The group = Pleiades is certain; which Vedic name maps to which star cannot be determined.
