No public-domain translation exists. Sense: 'Two signs plus the degrees of a nakshatra (= 87°) would be the dhruva of Lopāmudrā's beloved; ... he is displaced to the south of his own declination-limit by seventy-seven degrees.' — Paraphrase by the compiler
'The beloved of Lopāmudrā' — Śrīpati's kenning for Agastya/Canopus, Lopāmudrā being the sage's wife. Śrīpati gives the star dhruva 87° and śara 77° S, identical to Brahmagupta's figures; the commentary concludes 'Śrīpati's statement conforms exactly to Brahmagupta's'. Recovered at second hand — these Siddhāntaśekhara verses are quoted inside the modern commentary on the Brāhmasphuṭasiddhānta and their OCR is poor, so the NAME is unambiguous but the verse wording needs checking against a published Siddhāntaśekhara edition.
