A Type II supernova in NGC 7292, in Pegasus — a massive star that ran out of fuel and fell in on itself, which is the other way a star ends. Found by Koichi Itagaki, an amateur in Japan who has discovered more supernovae than most observatories. Well past its best now, around sixteenth magnitude and still slowly dimming: a photographic target rather than a visual one.
